This FLAG funding  enabled the Hastings Fishermens Protection Society  to purchase bulldozers, in partnership with the fishermen to maintain the shingle beach levels so that they can launch and land their vessels.  As the largest under 10 metre beach based fleet this is critical to the fleets survival.

“Follow the Herring”, brings together a national touring production of performance art ‘ Get up and tie your fingers’ and the ‘ Coat for a Boat’ exhibition created by the Customs House, South Shields and based on the role of women in the historic herring industry. “Follow the Herring” included a local community choir, the Herring Girls, alongside the professional actors, plus a parallel exhibition element involving knitting and ‘yarn bombing’ all held on the Stade.

Groundwork Trust

A fantastic project to enable young people to learn new skills in woodwork and conservation. Working with Hastings own specialist boat builder and the fishermen three decommissioned fishing vessels will be conserved and transformed into Stade attractions.

The project is just about to start on its first vessel the 'Mandy Ann' and we  hope to keep you up to date on week by week progress.
