This project has purchased a reconditioned bulldozer for the East Hastings Sea Angling Association and club to allow them to safely move the shingle and launch the members vessels. This can be used by the fishing fleet in emergencies as well. But the project is also about getting more new and younger members to experience sea angling and learn more about fish and fishing from the Stade.
The project has also supported the the angling club in gaining the prestigious Angling Trust' s 'Clubmark'.
Update report 9/2014
The project targets are-
- 15% EHSAA member increase by 2015
- 10% increase in junior membership
- EHSAA to gain the Clubmark accreditation
- Provide a report by June 2015 detailing any instances of assistance to the fishing fleet
Following acceptance of the grant request in November 2013 which enabled the new bulldozer purchase, they have welcomed 28 new angling members (16% increase) and 12 junior members (100% increase), well exceeding their targets.
The EHSAA achieved it's Clubmark accreditation in February 2014, and has gone on to train two Level 1 coaches, with one going on the receive Level 2 coaching in 2015. The first junior coaching session was held in August which was attended by 10 members and provided to be a success.
And in terms of assistance, in August, the new bulldozer was used to provide help to a bogged down fish lorry who had become stuck on the beach next to the lifeboat house (see video below). Continuous assistance is offered to the fishing fleet whenever they need it.
